Increased querries in server????

i have seen a sudden rise in the number of querries

i use smf forum... and 2000 querries per second is reported by my forum

First thing to do would be to figure out why... Go through your web logs for example. If you can't find it in your web logs, start logging SQL queries to get a sampling of the queries being run.

What kind of traffic do you get? Unical Users / Page Impressions? How much queries averagely it takes to produce one page?

Any robots visiting your page?
All the software working properly? No hangs?
Maybe you got listed on main page of cnn.com? ;)

Try a: show processlist. Is possible to have a locked database and querys to stay in queue without doing anything ... what Load average do you have on that server?
