VBulletin seemed to take a lot of resources especially when it gets bigger, try to get a dedicated server instead. A linux with Centos would be great.

Just be prepared to upgrade to a VPS quickly. VB uses a lot of resources.

I suggest VPS hosting so you have room to grow. Here's a list of affordable managed vps hosting plans (http://www.hostingdiary.com/2007/09/best-vps-hostin.html).

If your still after scalability, take a look at this plan:
http://manage.alloyhosting.com/cart.php?a=add&pid=0000000017
It's a custom plan (automated as standard) and you can add storage and bandwidth as you need it. So as you need more space, you buy it then not pre buy. It will save money and keep you going for the future.
