Look at the URLs!! :D

Does it look like

domain.com/links.php?category=wacko&sub-category=King&virgen=yes

or

domain.com/blah/blah/blah/blah/

Every link at a seo-friendly page will pass pagerank (if that page has pagerank), how much pagerank is passed depents on several factors, like how many outbound links. See at compar's page for more info.. http://www.compar.com/infopool/articles/PR-calculation.html

Normally, a url with " ? " is not considered as seo directories,

Also look out for nofollow attributes on links (looking at page source). They are instructions for the google spiders. If the nofollow attribute is found, the link isn't followed.

Hmmm
Note the steps
!) Check robots.txt to see if that is crawlable or not
@) Check for redirects
#) Check that page is accessible from main page (or subpages) where your link will be placed
$) Check for the links nature (it should be direct)

Yeah the "nofollow" attribute is definatly being used by a few directories, some i've even seen serving nofollows to robots and not to browsers by user-agent detection.

Personally speaking, I know I won't. The sad part is a person takes personal offense to rejection and whines about it.

I mean, if people would step back and outside the box, they'd then realize and see, that a directory doesn't want a million poker sites in it.

Also a better ways is not to have ONLY reciprocal links :-)

I generally prefer the direct approach. I just walk straight up to them and ask, "So... how do you feel about SEO?". If they start quoting the Bible at me, I'm outa there.
