Wordpress - limiting words on frontpage

Right now, when I post an article on my blog, the full article appears on the homepage.

How do I change that so that only a portion of the post appears and surfers need to click the post to be able to read the entire article?

Try using the more tag. It's an integral part of Wordpress 2.3++.

you must use the more tag.. you can see it in the visual mode. :)
