View Full Version : The Pyramid Linking Experiment

Hey, I noticed that a lot of people are suspecting the Pyamid Linking website, I do to.
I decided that since nobody actually tested it out with a "control" website, I might as well.
I will be taking a simple website with PR3 and barely any backlinks and start joining the Pyramid Linking website. I will post regularly updates on:
http://www.redscowl-bluesingsky.us/search-engine-optimization/pyramid-linking-better-than-co-op-advertising-network
I will NOT reveal the URL since people might decide to mess with the results. I will post updates every 3 days in this thread and I will monitor the website for 30 days.
I know Google won't show the backlinks, so I will use:
http://www.marketleap.com/publinkpop/default.htm
I will check the Yahoo! and MSN backlinks.
Thanks!

I think he means that this method is risky and might result in a ban IMO:)

Ok you guys are seriously being vague...
If you're talking about banned from Google, I'm pretty sure it won't. It's a PR3 Domain name and has 19 backlinks...
If you're talking about banned from Pyramid Linking for whatever reason, they don't know who I am!

Actually, don't. You're hijacking a thread by spamming your own service. Take it somewhere else.

if it was a -5, then it couldn't have been from TOPS. i suspected it though, TOPS wouldn't give a rep without leaving name. TOPS one is worth 10.

Is this thread about The Pyramid Linking Experiment or Red/Green Rep and/or who's rep is worth how many points?

That's exactly my point. SEO Guru was encouraging someone to take this off topic. Goel comes in and claims to know something valuable on his first post (spam bells should start ringing), SEO Guru asks for more info in someone else's thread. Double posting as well. That's why I repped you. No need to whinge about it.
Now get this back on topic.

To get back on topic anyone who doesn't know about pyramid linking should check out the main thread (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=63728) or the link in my signature.:)

Ok, here is EXACTLY what I am doing. I went to the Pyramid Linking Website, signed up with their account and have offered a PR3 Website.
I am NOT disclosing my URL to make sure that nobody messes with the results. I update my Redscowl SEO Blog at least every 3 days with the link backs I am getting.
Hope that clears up your question, Mong.

Here's what I know so far
Its a new site, and it works on the principle that if you place 10 links on your site, you get double the number pointing to you. Its in its infancy and I guess will eventually be categorised. So if your site is involved with legal stuff you will get legal stuff websites pointing to you.
Like I said its new, but I am sure will grow. Launced early March I think

Red rep? I think you might be thinking of someone else?
I'm sorry if anyone feels that me agreeing with some of the people here that pyramid schemes can be a little flakey at times, and adding that I was a little wary of them, was the wrong thing to do. Didn't realize that voicing a half-hearted opinion which wasn't specifically directed at anyone was a crime around here nowadays.
I may only have a few forum posts under my belt and look like a noob but I have been coming here for well over a year or so...

I've had a look and to be honest I,m not too impressed. It looks pretty legit but...you link to say ten sites, that means when 20 new sites join they could link to you. This system will only benifit the core websites because you link in first and wait for new sites to get your links, if no sites join or only low pr sites join then your going to have a long wait. I think if you have a good website that provides a good service you'll get quality inbound links into your site just by asking.

Actually I just checked it out as well and I don't know why the heck they call it a "pyramid" type operation. It's not pyramid at all because its not tiered in any way - you just get rewarded for referring other people, that's all. I think calling it "pyramid linking" is doing a disservice to the overall idea, as most people will stay well away from pyramid schemes in droves. I can't even imagine why someone would call it that when its clearly not?
So, after my initial wariness of such an idea I think I will take the plunge with one of my websites and see what happens. To be on the safe side though I'm gonna use a site that I have not invested too much effort in (and one that I expect little return on). If it pans out I'll report back.

The reason its called Pyramid Linking is because its similar to a pyramid scheme in that you only get links to your site if other people sign up after you.
Its still in its infancy at the moment (about 3 weeks old) and we have 700 link campaigns running some with up to 50 links in them. Judge for yourself whether its going to work in the long term but its certainly working at the moment.
As the site grows we are adding new features all the time. We have just allowed current users to go back to the site and get more link partners so the system is no longer totally dependent on new users joining.

I would just say it's called pyramid linking because for one link you get to backlink
1 <- you
1 1 <- Others
Small note to sixty6: I'd recommand you to allow not-logged comments on your blog. Generally people don't like to register to post a single comment and it's not that hard to filter any spam. By doing so, you'll be able to get a bigger amount of feedback from your visitors.

Well it seems that someone here is more into repping than rapping, as I've received a couple myself.
Honestly I would've thought that people would be a little more responsible around here. When did it become a crime to ask questions on this forum? Its news to me.

Bad rep generally equals people that provoke, which is in my opinion great. I hope you just don't fall into the insulter category. (but I haven't seen so far)
