FFA (free for all) = A website you submit a link and it gets added right away with no review.

Big amount of outgoing links everywhere with limited content = Link Farm

I would sugguest you not to go for link farms, google will penalize you for that. Better take time and build quality links

I think that google can't penalize you if he finds a backlink in link farm because everyone can submit your site if it free for all.
Google can penalize you only when you link to link farm.

Does also this directories lists that we can find on this forum are FFA's ?

Agree with the first part .....

I would have to disagree with the second part though, as this would include all directories ..... including DMOZ, Yahoo Directory etc. ....... which I am sure is not correct

Okay, on the vast majority of ffa's...links are there for mere moments before scrolling off.
So the chance of having google find your link on a ffa site is darn small!

Worst place to put links in are ffa's, as few people will ever actually see your link, much less click on it.

Directories are good places to put your links.
Majority of directories are human edited, so your link will not be added until the directory admin reviews your link and decides to reject or add your link.
And your link will probably stay on the directory forever.
Drawback to directory links (free ones at least) are that a lot of directories have a no-follow on the free links.
Would have to pay or reciprocate to get the no-follow removed.

So, FFA's are pages with uncategorised links, with no pay and most of them does not "manually" review the submissions.

Am I right ?

FFA means Free for all. These are totally useless llinks. Search engines like google,MSN, yahoo don't give weightage to the site if the site's back links are from FFA based. Just try to avoid these links as these are not permanent and not important from major search engine's point of view.

I own a very busy ffa site. I do very well with it but Google does not seem to like it too much. Does not stop them very taking $1000. per month of my PPC money though. It has an Alexa rating of 29,000 and PR rank 0! Hey, I make money with it and I get lots of hits from the leads and even some posting to the ffa pages but it does not seem to good for SEO.
