There is a healthy site of about 5 pages with uncopied materail and having 3 adsense ads on it;targeting a low keyword say about (30 searches made to google every day); can achieve top of the rankings among google search and all this on a free subdomain such as 50webs.com:eek::confused:

Although it's possible I wouldn't personally do it myself. I would just purchase my own domain. You can even find free host to host your domain on. So only like 9$ total and you have full control over your site.
That's just me though

is possible but if you don't want to pay find a better free domain like co.nr for example

Be very careful where you use your Adsense publishers ID. Its very precious.

So,overall you say that free subdomains are not effective for google adsense though having a nice website and genuine content

I dont think if you try to register with a free subdomain, google will accept you, they will generally reject your application
farhajr
Jan 22nd 2008, 4:39 am
no,they accept and they have done it!!
newzone
Jan 22nd 2008, 4:42 am
is true , free domains are accepted, no free domains using pop-ups maybe...but now is possible with a free domain
farhajr
Jan 22nd 2008, 4:48 am
so you think tht free subdomains work well enough then!!!

Jan 22nd 2008, 5:10 am
tht doesnt seem a good idea
newzone
Jan 22nd 2008, 5:18 am
i think they work but must be a serious provider and without ads on your pages , but i agree with another members , buy a .info domain for 3$ / year and solved the problem , with a true domain you are sure never let you down ...
a true domain name is good for long run , for a good search engine position = traffic = money
a free domain name can be down anytime , no guaranty

I often use free subdomains to test the potential of a new site (and to get comments from friends and colleagues) before buying a suitable domain name. Often with Adsense: never had the slightest problem with it.

nowadays, I see low ranked, or no ranked pages up in many search results.
new content boost put new sites on top of search results but thats not for long time, after some time, such pages disappear from search results, especially free subdomains

please let me not agree with you , here making a Google search in position 5 you can see a subdomain http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=google+pagerank&btnG=Google+Search
i talk about : pr.blogflux.com and there are many more on the web, possible forwarded ( redirected ) subdomains to be low ranked but "natural" subdomains in my opinion are good

So, you say that free subdomains can achieve top rankings but evntually fall down how could that be just check http://medo.awardspace.com it is also a free subdomain and aachieves top postion for the keyword "medo"

this is the difference : http://medo.awardspace.com is how i said .... "natural" subdomain even co.uk is a subdomain converted into a domain using DNS , but co.nr isn't , is forwarded only using url redirection here is the difference between

depending on provider : http://medo.awardspace.com is a normal subdomain , created in Cpanel, Plesk or any control panel , *is good
co.nr is a subdomain forwarded, redirected from one place to point to another using a php script *isn't so good or not good
yourdomain.50webs.com is a better one but ugly
In general search engines don't rank good free subdomains like co.nr , 50webs
http://medo.awardspace.com is a subdomain but not a free one this is why his search engine position is better

ok, but problem is that, u need to have backlinks right?
for subdomains, u r actually building links for someone else site, what if they change their policy?
what if they stop free subdomain service?
there was a good free domain site, I forgot the name, they stopped the free subdomain service after few years.
anyway, I think its better to have ones own domain,

Nothing wrong is to use free hosting for you websites. My best result is to have about 2k visitors (7k pages) per day with free hosts and use adsense there.

meaning make about 2000 pages on a free subdomain in order to gain some thing from adsense

the same as 50webs.com but awardspace.com is a longer one ( awardspace.com offer only 5GB Bandwidth )
use co.cc (http://co.cc) is the best on the market right now with dns settings , a free domain (subdomain) like a paid one

Effective but it would be a lot more plausible and efficient if you use your own domain name and pay for a hosting account. Free webhosts dont last long and some even have automatic ads placed on frames which ultimately destroys your site content. Even though they are able to offer free hosting services, they still have to make a living. =)

Once again thanks for the reply i have made a very good site on sea plants and am targeting the word "deep sea plant" . it remained 3rd spot on google serps for a week and then went away ..
i couldn't find out why they have removed it from their search engine results page...
i made general guesses from which one was that { I have made the whole website on one page and that may be the reason for it and overall the website contains just one page}....
number two was{ that i am using a free webhost that is awardspace.com... that was the reason i was asking for some suggestions..}
but till now i can't figure out the real cause ...
now i am targeting one more site for the keyword such as "sea plants" but made that on ten pages with my very own genuine content and the competiors for the keyword also happens to be low....
so hoping for good rankings but that also i have uploded on awardspace.com ...
so tell me your views once again!!! please...
in detail :D

- build links for your site
- compare your site with the competition (content , keywords)
- try 110MB (http://110mb.com) if you are not satisfied with awardspace.com , they have more bandwidth
- change "seaplants.awardspace.com" with "seaplants.co.cc" (my opinion, because if you will not be satisfied with awardspace.com and want to move will lose your site "seaplants.awardspace.com" and all efforts will be in vain, the risk is too high but using co.cc will be exactly as a paid domain , use dns settings for it to act as a real domain , and you can change as many hosts as you want but you keep your site/domain)

Wwll. what i feel is that i am satisfied with awardspace.com for the reason that if google accepts my website as a good reliable one for the reasons that it is genuine and all that mentioned...only,thing is that will it work out all that coz for the past three days i have built my site and added to the google webmasters page but till now they haven't added but that was not the case for the previous website..
and yes one more thing ..please answer this part of the post which i mentioned

Farhajr, please also be aware that many free web hosts will shut your hosting account down without warning if you are using too many resources. This even applies when they give you, for instance, 100mb of bandwidth and you keep using 90mb, many 'free' webhosts will shut you down. There's no such thing as 'free' web hosting, you pay for it some how. In most cases you pay metaphorically for rubbish uptimes, slow download and slow upload speeds to the server. Although I can say freehostia seem to be okay for a free host.

newzone would you please suggest something!!!
newzone
Feb 25th 2008, 4:28 am
awardspace.com offers only 5GB monthly traffic , when you will use that limit you must pay or they will shut down your account how Spider-Man said too.
You must think in the long run ! now you are happy with awardspace.com but if you want to earn money not awardspace.com and subdomain.awardspace.com is the answer .
Must use something easy to remember and avoiding the risk of being shut down by them , need a domain that looks like a domain even if your site will be indexed by google in a month .
Get a good .co.cc domain ( use his dns ! ) choose a better free host and redirect your traffic from your old subdomain.awardspace.com to your new .co.cc , submit new .co.cc to search engines, build links for the new .co.cc

free sites r full of pop ups and google hate pop ups, but u can use free domain but u can't put adsense ads only yourcompany.wordpress.org
Better to have ur own domain name. Its not a good biz u r going to do.
Ur title should be as mini sites on free hosting

thanks for all that newzone have you got something more to say with espect to adsense on awardspace.com and its ranking on google serps...just check funmaina.awardsapce.com. it too has got 4 spot ranking on google for keyword funmania" not a highly competitve on"..can i achieve something like that easily in your opinion.

"newzone" i have made my website of about 10 pages on the keyword "underwater sea plants" which is not a highly competitve one. for the past 5 days i have submitted my url to google webmasters but till now they haven't indexed my site.. this was not the case for the previous websites which i added to google webmasters ..
what could be the causes? and yes, one more thing i even tried to index my website at digg.com but they din't do it saying awardspace.com subdomain won't be added...
could that be a reason...
and yes, till now i haven't added any adsense on it ...thinking that let it first index properly then i shall add adsense to it!!!
shall i give you the url just to have a check at it ?!!!
please reply!!

Feb 26th 2008, 5:03 pm
better go with another domain, ( paid one if possible ) but you don't listen :)
Can take more than a week to be indexed, sometimes less, sometimes more
Digg = maybe is their policy

Feb 26th 2008, 6:22 pm
the thing is "newzone" that i can't go for a paid domain due to some reasons.so tell of any other free domain which is more reliable if you know other than .co.nr as it host its own ads on pages and shall i tell you my new page url so that you may suggest any views.
thanks for replying so many times but the thing is that i am just trying to seek more info.
thanks once again
newzone
Feb 26th 2008, 6:37 pm
co.nr is one , try co.cc (http://co.cc) is much better right now because has dns support like a paid domain but is free
sign up with 110mb.com (http://110mb.com)
setup your nameservers to 110mb.com then add your domain in your control panel
you can have 3 free co.cc domains and 3 free hosting accounts on 110mb.com
this are the best options and free for the moment

You should get your own domain, as if you create a website that you really worked on, you can sell it later..
farhajr
Feb 26th 2008, 7:00 pm
thanks for that newzone once again so where do i start from first sign up 110 mb.com
and then make a subdomain like subdomain.110mb.com
and then..what?
could you please explain more all about that
newzone
Feb 26th 2008, 7:32 pm
upload your files , then go to co.cc (http://co.cc) register free the domain you want, click on ..."please setup your domain" or something like that , then click Manage DNS
setup :
Name Server1 to ns1.110mb.com
and
Name Server2 to ns2.110mb.com
and click setup domain
now go to your 110mb.com account (control panel )
search for Account Profile then Add Your Own Domain:
write your co.cc domain without www. and click add/remove my own domain now
wait around 24 hours and that's all , then don't forget to submit to the search engines your co.cc domain not your subdomain.110.mb
on your old account if you have some traffic can add an index.php file with the following code or just forget it
<?
Header( "HTTP/1.1 301 Moved Permanently" );
Header( "Location: http://your-domain-here.co.cc" );
?>
farhajr

newzone tell me i haven't seen any page .co.cc page indexed by google. why is that?
i opened the .co.cc page and saw a website with.co.cc domain; it was not indexed by google the their keyword target was very less competiting..
could you please tell me about this also?
newzone
Feb 26th 2008, 9:51 pm
will take 24 hours or more for the dns to propagate, because co.cc was launched in 2007 , october or so , is not an old service
farhajr
Feb 26th 2008, 10:04 pm
ok thanks for that !! but do you think a site such as seaplants.co.cc can achieve top and better rankings in google having 10 pages and genuine content compared to seaplants.awardspace.com too having 10 pages and genuine content!!!
please reply!!!

Feb 26th 2008, 10:19 pm
yes but you must build links, promote it , needs time can't be over the night in first 10 , take a look at the SEO related posts here on DP for promotion
farhajr
Feb 26th 2008, 11:02 pm
but lets say the keyword doesn't have any high competitors still it would be requiring all that you hae said about seo and building links

Feb 28th 2008, 8:51 pm
I believe that you can get a domain at Yahoo for $1.99 a year. You would have full control over the placement of your adsense ads and colors, etc.
Better than a free domain and cheap.
My 2 cents
farhajr
Feb 28th 2008, 8:53 pm
the thing is that my website is now on awardspace.com,but moving it on .co.cc will make it index good or it would be the same as it is not indexing right now

thanks for all those replies once again newzone;but i have seen one thing in .co.cc domain is that the title of the page has a ".co.cc free domain service" written on the title which is not the case with awardspace.com;so don't you think that will lower down the seo ranking in the google serps as till now i haven't seen any website for a given keyword on the first 10 of the results.

In general search engines don't rank good free subdomains like co.nr , 50webs
Search engines rank quality content based on many factors. I have a blogspot.com site not listed in my sig that is in the top 5 in Google and top 10 in Yahoo for my key words. I average about 2k unique visitors a day.
When I purchase my first domain I will create it on a paid host site to avoid those potential pit falls that have been described here.
