lol, DMOZ is a directory.
Anyway, if you arent willing to pay 18 measly dollars (well worth it) for a 1 year subscription then I doubt you would be open to any other suggestions people would have.
My advice, pry open that rusty wallet and lay down the 18 big ones.

I have been using Linkmarket (as part of a bigger plan) since the beggining. The biggest complaint people give is that they get unrelated requests or PR isn't high enough.
The truth is that as a full member you have a host of options to sort out those you would have no interest trading in and you have options to sort by PR,newest, etc
I have used them as part of a triangle linking strategy with a few of my sites and gotten around 3,000 one way links as a result.
If you aren't able to spend any money then a link site may probabably not be for you.
A great alternative if you have a ton of indexed pages is to join the Coop Network (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/?s=1967) which is free and could yield a ton of one way links.

I'm a full member at linkmarket and I must tell you its garbage. 95% of the sites are garbage. I think I found 3 good linking partners out of hundreds of sites. Stay far away from link market unless your looking for very low quality spammy links.

out of 100's of sites?? There are over 10,000 sites with about 15-30 added every day. I have ranked top 10 for semi competetive keywords on a few of my sites with linkmarket alone.
I use them a lot when someone asks me to help them out with a non-competetive word - I usually spend about an hour and a half and a month later they are top 10.
The limitation with any type of reciprical site is for highly competetive words. i.e. If you expect to be #1 for web design using them, you are in for an education. Thats true with anything though, as it takes a lot of different strategies to be top 10 on these words.
I don't get when you say "spammy links". What area are you in?

Its digital points -->Coop Network (http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/ad-network/?s=1967)
The coop network basically works like this: Put a piece of code on your site that displays other members ads (see example here (http://www.yourfavouriteshop.com/forum/index.php) ) and in turn your "ads" are displayed on others sites. this generates one way links to you (Shawn is Top 10 for the term "ebay" using the coop network). Just take a look and then you can post any questions you have and they will be answered fairly quickly.

I'd have to agree. It seems like 99% spammy types of sites. So far its been very little use to me - all viagra and gambling type sites. I'm sure there are some good ones too, but seems like to few and far between for me anyways...

In fact, my most recent blog is about exactly this - Link Market & Common “Spammy” Online Businesses (http://www.jonpayne.net/index.php?p=14).

All we can do is give you our experience - you've got to decide. Personally I don't see much worth in LinkMarket, although I've not had much time to give it a real good chance.
