$100 Logo Design - Exciting new project

I am beginning work on an exciting project and in the first instance require a logo for Student.FM

This will eventually be a student focused community site joining students across the world. The idea being it will focus on student radio, audio and video podcasts, articles and blogs relevant to the global student market place. In additional students will have their own profile etc and there will be groups for universities etc.

The logo needs to relevant to the audience, striking yet simple, iconic and really represent the Student.FM brand. In addition I would welcome any strap line ideas incorporated in the design.

I am completely open to ideas, colours and designs but I do think a white background is important as is a modern web 2.0 'feel' (if such a thing actually exists). I will provide regular, honest feedback which will I hope shape the entries as we go. The competition will last 2 weeks from the thread posting date, payment immediately upon receipt of completed artwork and will be via PayPal. I reserve the right NOT to choose a winner in the event that I do not feel anything is suitable but may ask to work further (for an additional fee) with a chosen designer, but obviously I would prefer no to do this.

All copyright must pass to me upon payment and all artwork must be completely original and not infringe on any copyright in any way.

Hi Steve, I hoped that I had explained things clearly in the brief, if not, appologies.

I'm looking for a logo for a brand new community web site for students worldwide providing podcasts, student radio stations, blogs etc...

As for your ideas the first says to me Harvard, the rest grunge (and they are hard to read) neither of which is particuarly inclusive.

I have always been very impressed with the quality of entries on this forum so I'm very much looking forward to seeing some more entries.

Sorry should have said not to fussed about the size on the screen as long a it appear right in the proportions. Would like finished logo in vector based Photoshop format so it can be resized.

Thanks for your entry, I was hoping for something a little more iconic/symbolic incorporated with the text that helps to say what it is. To be honest if it is just simple text I was after I would do it myself. Please feel free to submit an alternative or modified design.

Thanks for your entry. The use of headphones icon is ok but a little small, need to be careful not soley radio/music focused as it is a community site also. Certainly worth exploring further.

wow, really good. I love the icon, gets the study and student and the music. nice strapline too. Not overlly keen on the colours and does the student chap need some eyes ?:)

Hi people,

Firstly have to say how fantastic all the entries are it is going to be very hard to choose a winner.

Aries - I love the overall design but strangly I liked the original more maybe the 'student' has become a little over complicated now (my fault I know) and he could do with being a little more of an icon (does that make sense?). Colour wise, not too keen on citrus type colours something a little more subtle (reds blues). Great work.

Neil - Thanks for listening to my feedback - very keen on all three designs, would be hard to choose but probably the last one as it focuses more on the people rather than just the music. (I've just had another look and actually I can't choose!) - I would change the strapline though.

CelaCG - Good work thank you. A nice design but as I mentioned earlier in the thread that font (on the plectrum)to me just says USA and the site needs to be wholey inclusive across the world. I would love to see this with a different Icon focusing on music/radio/community. Thanks again

what can I say coolwanz...really cool.

I guess you have had the advantage of hearing my comments to others and you have delivered.

I would like to see the strap line in a more modern (non italic and clearer) font and a couple of other colour combos.

This is getting harder :(

DesignFXpro thanks for your entry. What can I say a really superb entry. The first one is my preference of the 3 (not keen on no3). My concern is that it is TOO illustrative and not iconic enough and as a result comes out abit busy. Coolwanz I think has the balance of the two correct on this point.

I can't fault the quality of the work but im not sure its right for this project. Not really sure what to sugest to help either.
