What is TECHNORATI... and how did one of my posts get on there??

hi all,

i just started blogging recently at www.michaelbennett.ca - really to try and learn about WP, and CMS etc.

during a GOOGLE search, i found a link to my blog on technorati >
http://technorati.com/tag/allbusiness

i wrote a post about www.linkpopularity.ca

1) How did my post end up on technorati?
2) That's a good thing - right? :)
3) What is TECHNORATI - in laymen's terms please.

technorati is a blog search engine, so without technical knowledge, if technorati bot found your blog, it will be index by them. another thing is someone or a technorati member, fav your blog. good thing? yes, free traffic

You can set your blog software up to ping Technorati automatically by entering http://rpc.technorati.com/rpc/ping into your blog's configuration.

If you have a WP blog, from the dashboard click Options, Writing and at the bottom in "Update Services" put the Technorati URL in it among any others you want to ping when you post.

Or if you have the Smart Update Pinger plugin put the URL's in there.
