'How to' LINK BAITING in 10 easy steps!

Step 1: Compile a list of blogs on your desired topic and get contact details.

Step 2: Compile a list of forums on your topic and join.

Step 3: Create some kick ass value added content, E.g. Free software, Top 100 list, Free eBook, Tutorial, How to guide, Course, Quality daily email, Top 10, etc (any more ideas?)

Step 4: Load the free content onto your site and make it freely accessible to all.

Step 5: Write and release a Press Release about your free content. Submit to press release web site for distribution.

Step 6: Contact all blogger whose details you gathered earlier. Send them the free content, a link to your site and a copy of the press release.

Step 7: Start a thread on all forums identified earlier to notifiy all about yur free content.

Step 8: Write several articles about your free content, embed your site links and submit to article directories.

Step 9: Conduct some link building using the title of your free content as anchor text.

Step 10: Sit back. Pray. Watch the free backlinks being built and analyse the traffic.

Step 11: (yes I thought of one more) Thank the bloggers for thier coverage personally and give them a link back if you feel generous.

Very good article and I will use it on my flat fee mls sites and mortgage sites as there are not too many people that understand this concept just yet. I am trying to do two things and that is to get traffic but also to inform people of a new way to list their house without having to use a listing real estate agent. Not too many people know how to do this with a flat rate mls system. the hard part is just getting the word out to potential home sellers or fsbo sellers.

Open a site and/or blog at wordpress.com , write short daily articles and tag them to categories with high PR. After some time PR will be transferred to your wordpress site/blog and from there you transfer some PR with keywords to your site.
Another good methed is building 1-way links. I tested it with 2 of my sites and increased the traffice 10 times! (20 to 200 visitors) within 2 month. I did nothing else on these to site withing the 2 month periode to test it.

Does anyone else have any experience with good press release companies. The ones I have found seem to be more articles directory web sites - unlikely that news agencies would come to these places looking for news. Am I right or wrong?

The most powerful (but also risky) link baiting method is to create something controversial. Your title should be something negative about hot things and you'll get a link bait. But this is quite risky because maybe people won't like you anymore (if you attack the topic heavily)
