Everyone is using Google Adsense.
What is the best alternative to this?

I have tested quite a few I think Adbrites is the closest you can get to Adsense. But pay wise, I think Adsense is still better.

I have used text-link-ads.com for a couple years and they have sent steady checks. I think Google has hit me for it because my PR went down from 5 to 0, but I am pissed off at them for it so I am leaving my ads in place. I am actively searching alternatives to Google search for my customers.

There is tons of different ways to go instead of adsense.

Kontera, CJ.com (affiliates), adengage, and Adtoll are the many.

Personally, why not use all of them instead of just one.
