I want ti build up the PR of my blog and I am thinking of attaching it in my sig beacuse PR of DP is quite high and if get a link from here then it wil be good. Isn't it? I post an average of 3 posts per day so going by that in a month I can get 100 links to my blog from here. Is this prediction of mine correct? How much will it affect my PR? Will it really increase or not? PR of my blog is zero right now.

It lot depends on which post you reply to. if the post has high PR, then it would pass PR to you since you replied to that post and your sig links appears there.
Besides that, your post count can get your huge chunk of backlinks. It might not have a huge impact but its not bad at all.

having your site on your sig in DP is not enough to increase your Blog PR. You need to link it to several sites with high PR also.

These links will certainly make no harm to your site. But they are coming from the same IP, so, you shouldn't expect them have huge effect on your site PR.

YES links from signature helps you to get PR, but you need to do much more if you want to get good PR.

Moe backlinks = more likely to gain better PR. In that way DP signature might help ;)

Yes signature links is also count as one one way link. Use your signature links on good traffic forums. You will surely get benefits from it.

Most of the threads you will reply too are PR0 or PR NA which will not help all that much in the way of PR...but a sig link can help with traffic and SERP (which again can increase traffic). Increased traffic can then cause return readers, and with luck additional links if what you are posting is worthy of talking about. Those additional links can effect your PR.
So while a signature does not do a lot to effect PR directory, indirectly it can have a huge benefit.

every link counts
having thousands of links on dp will not give you a huge pr but it will bring you some traffic and increase your alexa position

I believe if you have your site on a sig with atleast 1000 posts, it will help your serp (Anchor text from 0 pr still helps :D)
Pagerank is just a count of backlinks,
SERP is based on the number of backlinks, keywords, and anchor text
So if you post on DP, you are helping your site :D

Yaaaa You certainly can use signature links to build your PR and gain good ranking on SE, It works way better than directory submissions :)

A link in your signature also from PR0 page will help.
To some pages of my sites I'm on the first page of Google for long tail keywords without having these keywords in the text of the page, only in the text links of PR0 backlinks.
Depending of the competition of the keyword you'll need 100 and more PR0 back links.

Sitewide and signature links help in ranking and of course provide traffic.

Look at how many links are, on average, on a page. Suppose you had one link each on about that many pages. Suppose all the pages had the same PR. Then you'd get around that much PR too.
Whether that does much for your search engine results is a whole other matter.
Personally, I didn't start blogging until I had access to a few highly trusted sites and pages with good PR, so my blogs started life entitled to a PR around 5. So I'm not speaking from direct experience here. But that's at least the theory.

It's difficult for me to answer that because I've never experimented and isolated forum links as the variable .. in other words, I never launched a site and limited link development to only forum links ........
In addition, I've seen some forums that no follow signature links (or do so until you have a certain quantity of posts)
at any rate, I don't think they carry much pr pop at all even if they are followed ... they are not a part of my strategy ...... indirectly, they can bring you some traffic, and, it is possible that some of that traffic might like what you've got going on and thus link to you ............
but, there are such other better ways to generate high-quality links that I personally don't give forum links much thought .

It's all a part of your link profile.

I wonder what a sitewide link on this site would do?
There is like 628,389 threads on the forum each with there own pages, (some threads have lots of pages!)
If you left the link there long enough you would get alot backlinks as the SE spider crawls the site! LOL
You probably could charge an arm n' leg for a sitewide link on a big forum like this.

With regard to PR I built my site with me in mind and with what I would like to see (I am a total novice you might be able to tell from my site:)I submitted it to search engines in some directories and as my sig in my email and I now have a pr 3 after 5 months. Haven't really a clue as to what I am doing so just goes to show don;t try to cheat anything and it will happen on its own. Just need some more traffic now lol

Signature links will NOT do anything to your PR. I had one for a full cycle, posted in PR4 threads and after the update it was still PR0
So build some real backlinks instead.

oooOo I'm going to have to disagree with you on this one sweet :D
As long as a link doesn't have nofollow and is viewable by guest, then some pr juice will transfer.
You have to take several things into consideration with this.
The # of outbound links on those pages
The ip from all those links, it's best to get links from several ip's
The relevancy of the links
The pr of those pages
PR is all about backlinks, but Traffic is what you should be watching. :)

Guys,
I believe that signature link increase your PR, I've live example, my aircraft maintenance (http://www.ansaviation.com) site was N/A rank and I put the link in the signature like 3 months or less ago, and now unbelievable PR rank jump on 2nd PR.
so do not ignore the signature link, and keep reply the threads.

You need to be posting on 20 different sites to do that, and even then the results won't be as good as a single pure PR 3

Well your theory on Pagerank is pretty sound, but due to the large volume of outbound links and the low PR of thread pages signature links here do basically nothing for Pagerank.
Proof - 4,450 signature links (http://checkpagerank.net/index.php?name=seoco.in&links=1)
As you can see, all links are DP signature links and the PR is ZERO. It even has 9 in the Google link command.
This is the second time i have done this, first was when i had 1,500 posts and after a full pagerank cycle PR0. Second time 4,000 sig links and PR0, however i will do it again at about 7,000 but i doubt the outcome will be any different.
So i'm not talking out my backside on this, i have actually tested it more than once with identical results. I'm obviously standing by my original statement, DP signature links will not give you Pagerank and does virtually nothing for your SERP's either.
Here is my anchor text in quotes which has just 1,160 results.

I have 20+ sites and started building 1-way links for 2 of them at Nov./4th last year. I didn't submitted thes sites to link directories or did any other links building activities. I only joined a free link building service and added these 2 sites to the system.
Now after about 2 month one site hast PR2 and the other one PR3 (before PR0), for one site I get 150 unique visitors a day and for the other one about 50. Before I only got a few visitors.
Now I added my other sites to the link building system (see link in my signature) to improve their PR too.

i have a question about sigs in forums. i started adding my links to my sig in another forum. when i used backlinkchecker last night, i noticed some hits from that forum. i was happy to see it was working, but i noticed it only picked up only a small percentage of those sigs.
is this because I just started earlier this month and will i eventually see hits on all my sig posts?
for those forum members who have thousands of posts (all with their link in their sig), do they have the same amount of backlinks from dp?

Multiple posts in the same thread may count as one link, in other instances, it may take time for the links to come to light. Like if the post above this one got indexed, it may take a while for this post to makes it's way in as well.
Though regardless of whether or not the bots catch it, people do.
