View Full Version : digitalpoint should control the minimum trading price in the buy/sell folder

i think dp should control the market in buy/sell/trade folder. some guys are providing sites and services for penny cash there. this is a bad news for other genuine sellers and hard working programmers. maybe we should have a minimum price range there.

eg :- minimum price $100 + for websites
$10 an hour for services

Why is this? If they want to do so, then there is nothing wrong with such. Anything that costs less than $5.00 already has to be posted in the Freebies section... :p

no point of moving it to freebies folder!

freebies = free stuffs ;) that means we don't have to pay for it.

You cannot force someone to offer certain services at higher rates. If the seller is happy with the price the buyer does not mind it then who are we to interfere. If you work at a higher price and offer better quality as well more people will go your way in the long run.

My advice is anyone offering web design or directory submission services need not rely solely on dp. There are places where you can get better prices.

$5 and below is a sensible move, but I think to do things like

minimum price $100 + for websites
$10 an hour for services

Seems to be the work of Congress to set the minimum wages. To do that on such a big forum would be lots of extra work for the mods.

It is a Willing Buyer Willing Seller market, let economics rule.

It's a free market man, anyone can sell for whatever price he/she wants...

It might be a good idea to open a "flea market" area where cheap services & goods are provided.

I was giving away free cash yesterday, Monday and Saturday. ;)

It is basically free, but if you were to give $5.00 out to every Tom, Dick and Harry that requested, you'd be broke. Simple. :o

I disagree with this.
Maybe make subfolder for lower priced items. It's nice to get a turnkey site for 50$ - 75$ every now and then. ;)
This is what sitepoint did shortly after I started visiting their site, and that's what drove me over to here.

Actually, if I'm looking to buy a nice site for 500-1000$, I'll do to sitepoint.

It can be a good idea but, I don't see any point in charging from members. If you go back to history you will realize that B/S/T has played a vital role in the growth of this forum. I know B/S/T is by far the most active forum here. I have been around here for a quiet long time now and based on my own experience I know not many members will support the idea of charging to post in B/S/T. Alternatively I would suggest to limit the number of posts to 100 - 500 in order to be able to post in that section.

I never called is a freebie. I said that it was basically free, and that it is classified as a freebie (refer to the sticky in the Freebies section).

If you had knocked on my door yesterday, yes, you would have received some free cash.

You are sending undesired electronic bulk messages asking for free money, off the original topic. Of course I am part of it, I am the person that is getting spammed.

Really, you should stop leaving your gun lying on the ground... It's too tempting! :D

Setting a minimum price for a trade can be pretty unfair as well. I know competitors will not be happy if sold cheaply but, in the end it should be up to the seller to decide a price.

No I did not, it was originally on topic -- I was specifying "Related Information" to back up reasoning.

Drop your gun, mate. You honestly aren't going to win at this, and I don't want to receive any infractions out of this. Please, if you wish to continue such an off topic debate, take it to PM.

Spot on. I believe that even the law fiddles with this a little too much. :)

All right relax guys this is not the place to bicker. The idea has been placed before. You can not tell someone what he charges for something. It is called free enterprise. The mods will not do this so this is pointless. Just relax and try to understand some complexities involved here.

This is not a 200 or even 1000 member forum. Some people understand this others do not. What might sound like a good idea one may not be to another.

The minimum to post in the non freebie B/S/T is $5. This is a good idea and has worked so far. If you see a post for under $5 report it simple as that. I will not argue about this. It is not worth it.

i disagree. i think everyone has their right to offer how much they want to offer. if the buyers want to outsource, they can get the cheaper price since most of those who offer cheap prices are from overseas where $1 is a lot for them. If you want someone who is native english speaker, then, be prepared to pay more.

dp doesnt get involved with members trading, so wont enforce any minimums.

trying to enforce it would only encourage PM spamming, secret settlements etc.
