View Full Version : Warez Should Be Banned

Heya all,

Due to a recent increase in these kinds of activites (in my opinion, of course) I start this thread calling for warez to be banned from Digital Point. People that sell warez are the scum of the earth - people who do not have the intelligence to create their own products and thus try to earn by ripping off the time, money and effort of honest webmasters - they deserve to be shot.

I've had my own eBooks pirated, as well as a few friends (and many times too at that) who have had some of theirs ripped off to sell - now, with eBooks it may be harder to prove who the original author is (however, if 5 - 20 people post in a thread stating that an eBook was ripped off, I think there is a pretty decent chance that they may be right), with stuff like WordPress themes (I've seen Brian Gardner's theme sold pretty often on here), software (see Agriya's Facebook clones, vBulletin licenses) - it is pretty clear cut if the thread starter is selling warez, and for that I ask for a immediate ban, or something sever like nine infractions.

I'm mainly talking about those who sell warez on Digital Point, however this may also extend to those who indirectly conduct warez activities - say selling a warez website/forum, or even hiring warez posters - it should not (in my opinion again, of course) be tolerated.

Now, this is just what I think; maybe I'm deluded and most webmasters don't mind their hard work being profited off by some twit. What do y'all say? :)

I agree wholeheartedly, Warez should be banned. They are normally more trouble than good for any forums when the copyright investigators start looking for the forum posters and so on. It also give a forum a bad reputation having warez peddlers around.

Yeah, I agree with you, but I think it will be hard to control the selling of warez on this forum as so many people are doing it!

I agree, but it's quite hard to figure out what is warez or not.

One way of establishing the original copyright of your ebook is to email
to yourself the ebook after you have created it.

That will confirm the time and date stamp of your ebook and you can
show it as proof that you are the original author.

Warez sellers and buyers give DP a bad reputation
