picked this up for a pretty low price and getting a mid 4 figure offer for it. offer doesn't make any sense on what i paid for it but the buyer is wanting a professional appraisal on the domain. It's got a lot of potential but its a sitting domain now. Any idea on the worth?

I’ve heard of this before. It turns out to be a scam, be warned.

They will ask for an appraisal from a company that they own and will charge you a ridiculous amount for the appraisal.

Trust me, they aren’t interested in the domain; don't waste your time with them.

thanks what i thought. lots of emails and no firm sales offer. i'm ignoring this guy. Paid XX for the domain and now he's offering XXXX for it? Yeah... no sale

meanwhile, anyone got a clue on a worth on it? figure it's got a price and might develop it into something.

As it stands right now, I would say it would not be worth much. Maybe the cost of the register fee.

If you can think of a twist like an anti-directory site or something, you may be able to build a nice site. However, with no PR or back links, I would say it is not in a big demand.

I think its fair market value is around $200 but if you were to sell it to a domainer expect mid $XX.

Yup, its was a scam, you were lucky to get out of it. As others have already said, this name is worth reg fee.

As to the value, I'd say around Low $xx max.

I like the domain and think it could be used for a niche site, high $xx undeveloped

yeah... appreciate the info... i'd punk out that scammer if i could..... bought it cheap and figure i'll cultivate it into something...
