How to promote a niche social bookmarking website?

Hello People...

A friend of mine is about to start a social bookmarking website that caters to a specific niche... She's looking for me to help her with the same... Although I'm not allowed to disclose the niche by her (don't know why... She won't answer me saying not to let the cat out...), I'd like to know a few things that one could do otherwise... She says that this niche is in high-demand and can touch about 1 Million visits (monthly) in less than 3 months...

Keyword research. Find some good keywords that have less sites listed and work on getting links. You can also add site to forums and social bookmark sites. One other way would be adwords
