So my site is a pr 4, ranks number 5 on google for my number one key word that according to oviture data is searched for over 1000 times daily, yet I am only seeing an average of 250 uniques a day. Is there something I should be doing? Thanks.

The top 3 spots get the most click-thru's. I believe there was a study that reported those after recieve around 5-10% of click-thru's.
10% of 1,000 is 100.
I'd say 250 uniques/day was about right, considering Google traffic is higher then that of overtures estimates.
Try to get yourself in the top 3 - they recieve the most hits. I believe 3rd place is around 26% of click-thru's.. thus you may recieve 520/day if you are in third position.
Of course.. it's all estimates but in your case it seems about right.

Seems about right to me... There are other SE's out there, and there are other sites getting hit, besides yours in those 1000 searches/day.

You should concentrate on optimizing all your pages so they also rank and not just the home page because if there any changes in Google then you will still get traffic from other pages.
