Hello all, I am trying to figure out where domains come from I want to sell domains like godaddy.com or domain.com etc... The thing is I dont want to be part of a reseller program such as godaddy, enom, tucows etc..
I want to find the direct source and become a domain seller please let me know if anyone knows the answer to this.

Hmm, I think it can be found there has to be a source where all domain providers go to.. its who controls domains etc.. It's not a secret just hard to find =)

One word ICANN

No, This isn't a Matrix question....where you probably have to take ages to find the source. :)
Problem is not with finding the source...problem is with getting approval from the source... You need tonnes of money/ capital to be a domain name registrar. Furthermore, there is already too many registars around.
May be better to find an obscure country that does not have a country level domain and then get the exclusive rights to it. If you cannot find an obscure country, buy an island and set up your own country and then get your own country level domains :D

Different companies run different extensions. ICANN dictates the rules, regulations, and who does what.
SO, you would NEED to become an ICANN accreditted Registrar (which costs tens or hundreds of thousands of dollars) and than purchase domains from the companies who run each extension (Verisign runs .com).

I think you should become a reseller before this and try to get ICANN accredited after you gain experiences and capital.
