I got inspiration from Michael_Goldman's Google Evolution (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=59105) post.
I checked out their archive of logos and have to say its nice to see them (the logos) evolve over time.
Holiday Logos (http://www.google.com/holidaylogos.html)
Fan Logos (http://www.google.com/customlogos.html)
Something I didnt know that I found out, is that Google used to be called BackRub.

When Google was a Stanford research project, it was nicknamed BackRub because the technology checks backlinks to determine a site's importance.
Hands down my favorite logo has to be the April Fools logo "MentalPlex"

The FAQ (http://www.google.com/mentalplex/MP_faq.html) and Illustration's (http://www.google.com/mentalplex/MP_illustrations.html) are drop dead hilarious
How was MentalPlex search developed?
As with the Internet itself, MentalPlex began as a highly classified Dept. of Defense initiative under the direction of Al Gore. The Plex-Project was intended to predict the outcome of closely fought battles, saving countless lives and giving generals a leg up in college basketball pools.
