View Full Version : Two sites: the larger, higher PR site with more ads got a smaller weight. Why?

I added one of our sites and added a partner's site.

Our site has a PR5 with 984 pages index in google while our partners has a PR6 with 1,452 pages indexed
I put 4 ads on our site and 5 on the partner site.

Our site received a weight of 15,153 while the partner site 8,726.

This doesn't make sense to me, the partner site I would guess should be significantly more than ours.

Anyone know why this difference?

What are the urls? The network uses G's api to determine the number of indexed pages. What you see for a site:command may be different than the API results.

Also, the number of ads needs to be fixed sitewide for higher weight. When your site is validated, it will check a random number of indexed pages and then take the lowest number of ads showing on the pages checked.

Could your site have received a referal bonus? As was said above, the API query could show more pages indexed for your site as well.

Thanks for your help.

Our site is www.l10s.com, the partner site is www.roofingsearch.com
All pages on roofingsearch have 5 ads, all pages on l10s have 4.

Is their a simple way to check Google's API results to see the difference?

use http://www.digitalpoint.com/tools/keywords/

a quick check has your site a 464 pages and the partners site at 202 pages

Thanks, although is it usual for google.com to be so different than the API values?

Yes, it you manually go through the results from google.com's page, you'll find they actually only go to 460 or 200 and the rest are all considered similar to those. Atleast, that's the case with my handful of sites.
