Just logged in and found the channels page updated with a new feature:
https://www.google.com/adsense/channel-edit#customchannels
Cool!

It's easier to use new channels, but not very useful IMO, why don't they just catch up the referrer url and report them? or they don't want to reveal so much secret?

Here is the excerpt from that page that explains it a bit more - pretty easy to implement:
Use this page to create up to 60 active channel names for AdSense for content. You can also deactivate channels or rename custom channels. For more information, please read the Channels section of the AdSense Support center.
Use URL Channels to track your performance without modifying your ad code. By entering a full or partial URL, you can begin tracking the performance of your pages. Custom Channels allow you to track performance based on your specified criteria. By pasting channel-specific ad code into any combination of pages, you can track a variety of metrics across your sites.

grabbing the URL for millions of pages using adsense would be quite a load, but limiting it to 60 or so makes it both useful and efficient.

Yep, I just wanted to add this point.

I think this will be useful - although with only 60 channels the use is limited for me.
I too would love to see them stop being so secretive and add some new stat features - it would help me earn more money and as a result benefit Google.

A nice addition, thanks google.. :)
But some more channels would have been nice, I've already used all of them new ones now...

This is a great help since Ive been monitoring more than 30 channels and Im having a hard time to track each code where should be it pasted, sometimes I misplace a channel that dont belong on particular site.
