Being a newbie, I just found out that DMOZ doesn't allow automatic submission. Unfortunately, I've tried to submit a couple of my sites to DMOZ before using AddWeb. How do I find out if my sites are blacklisted?

Thanks.

I have to post my inquiry at the Site Submission Status forum?

Thanks much, Shawn :)

it's odd that a company would make a habbit of automatically submitting to a directory that explicitly forbids it...

Automatic submission was not always banned...so, they might have done it before they banned it.

really, they allowed automatic submission?

that's surprising. I mean, how does the software even know what category to apply to?

Wait, I think they mean auto-submitting to a chosen category.

In fact none of the submission software to Directories was ever very automatic. It always forced you to drill down through a multitude of directories in order to find the category to which you wished to submit.

The only thing that was automatic was that you only had to type in your site URL, title, description and keywords once and the software would use this data to submit to many search engines and directories.

But you still had to go through the biggest pain in the ass about submitting to directories and that is chosing a category. I've never submitted to a directory in my life where I was completely satified with the category.

I think online directory makers hire the people who index telephone-book yellow pages.

Nothing is *ever* where you would logically look for it.
