Just installed akismet....
would it do any harm to install both!?
wouldnt it just be that both will filter the comments, so that if first one doesn't catch it the second one will, and vice versa... thus resulting in super duper spam protection?

I have both Akismet and Spam Karma 2 settings. I really love Spam Karma (http://unknowngenius.com/blog/wordpress/spam-karma/). It really does the job.

I would suggest just turning one moderation for new posts. Best of luck with that :(

Akismet is quite good. Turning on the moderation alone might not be sufficient.

Akismet is the best one we've tried. Depending on the type of blog and the numbers of comments a day, you may also want to enable other spam rules that come with wordpress.

yeah but if you 100 spam comments a day or more and dont moderate them for a while then you have 1000s of spam comments and its just too big of a hassle.....
hmm, I will add spam karma 2 as well, thanks for the suggestion , don't see it doing any harm :)

I only wish I could experience this LOL.
I didn't think about that as I rarely get spam comments :)
News blogs that's why :)

Spam Karma 2 definitely helps kill the mass spam. I have my blog ping my email each time I get a comment in moderation and with some tweaking on part of Spam Karma kills alot of the repeat offenders. I like it alot better than askimet. But I use both. What askimet does not get Karma will.... He, he.
