Kind of short notice, but here is what my client has asked me to come up with:
A vintage logo, for a venture called "Wings Over America". It needs to look somewhat old, classic is a good word for it. It also needs to have pilot wings in it somehow. Ideally, it'd be in vector since I will need to cut it out of vinyl as well as put it on letter heads and what not.
I'll add $25 if the client likes it and picks it tonight. We're meeting at 6:30 Central time.
I've attached what I came up with. No need to utilize any of it, just throwing idea fodder out there. In case you cant tell, I suck at this sort of thing.
I'll pay via paypal, and even include the 3% they take so you get how much I said.
Thanks,
Josh

Avalanche: looks good. Can I cut that put in eps?

Not to sure what you're trying to say there, everythings transparent except for the the inside's of the wings which are white, they can be made transparent if you want me too, the were all vectorised

I'm almost done with my design. Sorry it's such short notice. If I still get it in tonight, and you choose mine, do I still get the bonus?

Nice work everyone.
Avalanche ended up winning. The guys LOVED his stuff. I really liked your stuff ari, but they were pretty set once they saw his.
Thanks for all the great entries. Keep an eye out, I'll have more of these over the next 5 days.

Wow nice. I'll give you some feedback since i already picked a winner.
Beautiful design, but the words below it kind of offset that. I know you're trying to shop options, but I'd post it as three different designs. The contrast draws the eye and distracts.

wow, how come 3 of the 7 entries were images from google (only checked the first page, not sure if the other entries are also from google), with some extra text on them?
I hope you guys had rights to use those images...
Avalanche made the image on google look grungy like, but its the same thing.

That kind of ticks me off. Payment has been sent and good feedback have already been left. But I surely wouldn't have paid $100 for a logo I could have made myself with some google image love.

I doubt any of the people on here have drawn the wings themselves (forgive me if i'm wrong..) as they are all perfect and very complex looking.
As a friendly word of advice, next time you run a contest just try a google images search for key words to do with the subject, you'll be unpleasantly surprised how often people steal images from google images to use in logos etc.
The logo you picked as the winner is using 1 - possibly 2 - google images, slightly modded, and some very simple text plonked on the canvas. You are probably within your rights to charge-back on paypal for that, but hey that isn't any of my business. I'd be pretty pissed off myself though.

Im a believer in Caveat Emptor, so on one hand it's my fault, but on the other hand, this kind of sucks.

This is also bothering me because I put up relatively big dollars to attract the best of the best. Just goes to show, you've got to sell the clients on what you like, and tell them why they need to like it. heh.

Guys,
Matt did the right thing and refunded my money like a gentleman. He was very upstanding about the whole thing. Everyone makes mistakes.

Not sure if you're talking about my entry, but I haven't copy from any other site. Also, Josh asked me for changes, and just few minutes ago I sent him psd. ;)

That won't help in any case, mods/admins don't jump in member disputes.

No i just meant that a lot of them were pretty obviously google images or images that already existed, I know a few of them weren't yours included ;)
Well done on winning!

Darkx: while they may not jump into a dispute, they most certainly take the time if it's critical and do ban members. I know I have pointed out things and they have responded appropriately.
Happy to know this ended on a good note. And congrats, Dark!

Alot of them havn't been copyrighted, and are free to be used because they can classify as ClipArt. Mine was a clipart image. Clipart can be used freely.

While that is true, you should at least tell the contest holder of the deal; like he said he wouldn't have paid 100 bucks for something that wasn't unique and that he could have cobbled together himself if he looked on google images. If you throw straight dice from the start, problems never arise.

In addition: Just because an image doesn't have a copyright symbol next to it does not mean it's public domain. And sometimes you can use an image but not for profit or resale....each image has it's own rights for usage. Just need to check on it....
