Hi all.
I've spent 12 years of my life working technical roles for other people's companies, I made quite a good amount of money out of this but eventually the constant nature of the 24/7 on-call style to people whose behaviour always seemed a touch more than faintly ridiculous to me got to me. It burnt me out and I couldn't go back to it.
I switched to running my own business, which I've been at for three years now, but recently I've come to a realisation, old style business just doesn't really work anymore, you can't just create a product or service and then wait for people to come to you, acting like that is just as ridiculous as the behaviour I've seen from the people I so disliked working under. (Unless you run apple *cough*)
And so, here I am, trying to figure out how to really actually make my business work. Not through networking contacts I've developed in my career and who I know but through actually trying to figure out how the dollars flow on the net. The truth is at the moment I feel very much out of my depth, I've read a few books and a whole lot of guides, but the only thing I've actually tried to do is an adwords / clickbank setup which although I did manage to make 40$ worth of sales on on my first day, which was encouraging, ended up costing me 100$ to adwords in getting the attention there in the first place, so I guess they're the ones winning out on that particular relationship.
What I'd really like is someone else who can understand where I'm coming from and point me in the right direction and answer the questions, I sincerely believe that there's a science to everything and I just haven't figured out what the science to this is, yet. I can't offer much in the way of fiscal compensation because to be honest with you I'm fairly close to the poverty line as it stands. But I *do* have extensive indepth technical knowledge on a very wide array of subjects and I hope that should at least make this whole process somewhat easier, and I am prepared to put in the investment in time and effort to finish the process, no matter how long it takes. My independence is very important to me.
Anyway, probably enough of hearing an absolute stranger wax lyrical with half their life story, but by all means if you think we could help each other somehow please drop me a line.
Regards
Eric
