is it just me or do people check their Adsense account A LOT ?

i cant help signing in to see if anyone has clicked an AD, sometimes i do it a LOT..and then check again 20 min later ...today i must have done it 10 times or more...and each time i see a new click it surprises me.
I ask this cos i just did it again.

Real question is - what do you look for - which is most important to you? Impressions/CTR/Effective CPM ?

Good question lorien - I look a few times during the day to see overal earnings but also look hard at CTR. Then I check in once per day at the time I know they update it and check out channels for the day before to see what is hot and what is not.

But the real question is what do you do with all that information. Information for it's own sake is useless. It is only when you act on it and improve the results, or ratios, that information become valuable.

I never check more than once a day -- what's the point -- and often only once every second or third day. The figure that I look at is the earning per day based on the month to date results. I just want to know how big or small next months check will be.

In my opinion anyone who checks more than once per day needs to get a life!

I'd have to agree with you. Since adsense's channels don't update for a couple days, there is no sense in starring at the information more than once per day.

you could be right compar - maybe I need 'a life' - or maybe the more information you have at your fingertips the more you can tweak what you're doing. I admit the most useful information is channel information for me - tracking down where clicks are coming from and how much they are worth each helps in planning and strategising and developing new sites/pages.

However you can glean a little information from checking through the day. For instance I know that traffic during certain times during the day seems to click through at a higher rate than traffic at other times of day. Compare this to which part of the world is awake at what time and you might end up being able to target them more.

Maybe I have too much time on my hands - but then Adsense is my boss in a sense (pays my bills) so I think its smart to know what makes it tick.

I check about once a day mainly because I cant tell anything hour to hour -- and there is little I can do if I see a dip at 1:00pm -- I do watch day to day - and if I see a problem developing I try to correct it asap.

I check my account once a day when I wake up in the morning. Usually just curious to see how much I've made the day before. I don't try and tweak anything because I'm not really interested in the revenue I actually make from adsense so much as the revenue I make from my web site(s).

i use channels for different sites, but my main site doesnt have a channel...so its updated instantly,
.... and its really weird to see the clicks as they happen.
i assume that its just a novelty at the moment...and soon it will be a once a day or less type of event

Posting you own poll is just as irritating i have noticed....i keep wondering if anyone has bothered to vote...its like watching adsense ..but without the $$

however...
my goal is to check adsense once a day
i have broken that goal twice already today :)

the people who have voted so far that check once/week or less,
would be following a RE-ACTIVE management stlye...see what has happened, but too late it has happened...
worst case scenario- checking yearly ..and saying "oh dear,I didnt get any clicks this year"

...but being successful in business is about being PRO-ACTIVE, the question is where does the line fall...i would guess once a week is probably OK..once a month is too low
or am i wrong?

@gem its really depends on you. webmasters that relies on adsense as theyre primary income are the one who are frequently checking adsense stats. But for people that treat sadsense as just addtional income, it would be tiring for them to check it everytime.

When I get back from school I usually have nothing to do after a couple of hours so I surf on the Internet and sometimes over-check my stats; that is Adsense stats, visitor stats e.t.c. Maybe I should try to limit this to twice per day, right?

I actually graph mine at the end of each month to observe trends in channels and to track changes in placement/color/size of ads success. I've noticed a few trends over the year or so I've used Adsense by doing this that have helped keep my earnings increase each month.

Maybe only those webmasters worry about it. I check adsense very frequently, just like checking the web stats when I started my first websit, now I do it once a month.

I believe people who don't check, don't check because they just don't make enough. I remember when I didn't make much and wouldn't see much change, but now that there is so much action, who needs a life, this is to exciting, some hours there like $30 some there's $2, best time on my site is about 12:00 AM - 10 AM. Anyways, life, pffft, I hang out with my friends all the time, who's to judge me if I have a life. It's not like I come home in the middle of a movie with my GF and check my revenues, but sure, 8-10 times a day, doesn't mean I don't have a life Pops (refering to compar).

I used to never check, but lately I've been making a couple of bucks a day, so I'm constantly logging in to see what my first check will look like. The site I have adsense on isn't updated anymore (business closed), but is still online and still gets hits.
