I think with www is sort of a standard to designate the web url from all the other urls a company might have (ie smtp.yourname.com, pop3.yourname.com, ftp.yourname.com, etc.). Since the world wide web has become so prominent, most companies use both with and without the www, but not all.
It doesn't matter for Google though. They are smart enough to count both as the same.

You should try to submit your link with www.

I suggest that you decide once and for all which type of linking you choose.
You definitely don't want to 'loose' your sites' Page Rank. If you have 2 variations of links and don't have a 301 permanent redirect from say http://mywebsite.ext to http://www.mywebsite.ext your PR will be split between these 2 versions of your site.
So I'd put in the .htaccess file the following lines
RewriteEngine on
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\.mywebsite\.ext
RewriteRule ^.*$ http://www.mywebsite.ext%{REQUEST_URI} [R=301,L]
Thus you will link the two versions of your site together which would also join the PR. It doesn't matter from now on what kind of links you have. All the links will be redirected to your www.mywebsite.ext

for me id rather choose the site without the www, because not all know what is the difference of the two, and most users nowadays just type the domain name without the www.example.com just example.com

it doesn't matter with or without. however, whatever you chose to select you stick with it. if you submit some with www and some without it, then your PR will be different on both. not that PR makes any difference in ranking these days, but good to see the green bar on the top

There is actually a movement to kill www from the popular conscious because it's a relic from WAY back in the day.

I just wanted to open thread with similar question.I concluded following:it's better to submit without www.Here is why:i puted some domains on pr3 site sitewide and they all become pr2.I puted them without www,and www counterpart also becomed pr2.On other hand,i just noticed one domain have pr5 on www and pr0 on without www beacuse all backlinks lead to www.Any idea how to resolve that?Is it 301 only solution ?

It doesn't matter which one you choose, but pick one and be consistent.
Also, redirect from one to the other as webmasterlagoon mentioned.

Using www is better. If you use without www before, then it was separate ranking on your www domain.

I agree with webmaster lagoon......make sure you redirect them together.
I believe Google asks a similar question in their webmaster tools section as well

Make sure to choose one in Google Sitemaps (I am not yet used to the new name, webmaster central or sthing like that), then optimize for the one you chose. About which one you chose it doesn't actually matter but you will not want to have both appear in th SERPs.

I submit with www and also do 301 redirection. People have practice of using www. If I am going to link you I will use www.domain.com so its better to submit with www.

yes, defenately google consider both as a different URL's with the www and without www this is known as the "canonical issue" of the URL's and you will get the backlinks for those for which you will do the submissions so the URL you want to make popular U should submit that URL
