Denied to Sign up for Adsense

I tried to sign up for Google AdSense and they wrote me back saying " ... our specialists have found that the website currently associated with your account does not meet our program criteria."

I am not sure what I did wrong and they said they don't respond to e-mails about why you didn't get approved specifically, so writing them is out of the question.

I submitted the URL of suchgreatheights.com as the site I'd use the AdSense on and used a different domain name for email address, could this be it? Could it be our site is selling a service and if we use AdSense the ads will be for other people selling the same service we provide? Aren't there a bunch of sites like this? Am I voilating any Google webmaster rules? Maybe new SEO rules. I hope not. :(

I am confused, can anyone shed some light on this for me.

I want an AdSense account, so I tried signing up again, this time with a different email (gmail.com actually) and using my other site as the URL.

They may just be making it tougher to get an AdSense account, as the publisher demand has finally caught up with the advertiser demand. If they let everyone signup, most ads would end up being PSA.

AdSense ads are supposed to be posted on "content" pages. I just had a look at your home page and there really isn't much "content" in the sense of public information on there.

My experience is that once you have an account you can use it anywhere you want. I have to admit that I display the ads on one site of mine that is 100% commercial and has no informational "content" at all. I can also tell you that I get almost 0% click throughs from that page.

Why don't you write some articles or develop some really informational pages and then apply again for one of these pages?

Your site looks fine to me. Perhaps you just caught one of the underpaid flunkies at Google on a bad day.

Probably they decided that "SEO" meant something bad.

Try again and you'll most likely get a different flunkie. :-)

Why don't you write some articles or develop some really informational pages and then apply again for one of these pages?
Actually I will be doing this soon, but I haven't yet due to still having a full time job and two other jobs on the side.

I mainly wanted to get in on, and learn more about AdSense, with Shawn's "Ad Revenue Sharing Forum" here. I know I wouldn't make a whole lot of money, but I could get some AdSense experience out of it at least.

I was also thinking what Shawn said about Google probably getting more strict so not just everyone has an account. I was thinking this could be an option before I posted, but didn't know much about the service yet so I was unsure.

Oh and when I submitted my URL I didn't mean it would only be the index page, just within that domain somewhere. Within that site I planned on writing helpful, content oriented pages, just don't have them yet.

I might have to wait until I get those up though. Bummer. :(

Well after trying again using my gmail.com email and another of my domains they actually specified what was wrong and said it was because they don't have proof I own the domain via the whois record. My wife's name is on the whois and since I used the gmail account I guess they treat it like hotmail or yahoo. Now they want me to fax in proof. I thought this would be easier.

I will try one more time with the info that matches domains.
Doesn't this make it hard for agencies or consultants who want to sign up for AdSense for a client of theirs, because of the domain ownership issue? Anyone else hear of this before with AdSense?

I understand Google's caution, I just wasn't ready for it. I thought it would be more like applying for the Google API.

OK this time I did what I should have in the first place.
I used an email address with the same domain as the URL I submitted and there seemed to be no problems.

"Everything's under control. Situation: normal" ... "... everything's perfectly alright now. We're fine, we're all fine, here now, thank you. How are you?"

Boring thread anyway. ;)

SGH, thank you for sharing. I set up a site for my wife and registered it in my name. Google turned her down for AdSense and now I think I know why...

Did you end up changing your whois record also or was the email from your domain enough? Also did you have a recent increase in your pagerank? That also might be a factor.

No I didn't change my Whois records. Just the email from my domain was enough.
I saw no recent change in my pagrank.

Yes you can sometimes get denyd acsess. :(

Your best bet is to email them and ask the reason.
