Hi everyone,
Could someone explain the difference between a dofollow link and nofollow link? And how do I find out whether a link is a dofollow one or nofollow one? Thanks in advance for your inputs.

As I know, nofollow links are not indexed by search engines

"nofollow" means that Google will give less "weight" to the link, e.g. won't pass PR. Or so I understand it. If a link does not have nofollow (i.e. is a dofollow link) then Google won't treat it differently.

The code will have rel="nofollow" in the a element. This isn't the only type of link that doesn't pass love along, though; there are all kinds of js tricks that will do the same.

You can use browser plug ins to highlight nofollow links, but as far as I know there isn't anything that will detect all ways to hide a link from search engines.

Use firefox browser. It has a built in plugin which shows all the no-follow links in dotted red frame. I'm always looking at a blog postings first to see if it has such links before I make a post.

The SearchStatus extension is required for that.

I would not worry about it and just get all the links you can that are relvent. I just made a new site on a brand new domain and collected only non follow links on purpose. It is now idexed by all and even ranked on google getting traffic. Go figure.

Here is an online tool named Search Status, download it from http://www.quirk.biz/.

This tool will automatically highlight the nofollow links. I have been using this tool since 1.5 yr.
