Hello
I've read on this forum that if you have a lot of traffic from stumbleupon, your account will get smart priced or maybe banned.
Is this true?

The ads could pay less because you get bad conversions. Smart price can happen to any site anytime.

Ok thanks for your answer.
Someone an other opinion?

SU traffic is not really targeted traffic, so if you get a lot of it you probabley will get smarted. Depending on the niche, poor conversions.

Well logically, it wouldn't make sense. Traffic from SU doesn't usually click on ads. If they're not clicking on ads, then you can't get bad conversions. No bad conversion means no smart pricing. That's the theory anyway.

Can the adsense engine detemine where the traffic comes from?

I think its a general rule of thumb - untargeted traffic, poor click throughs, you get smart priced - regardless where your traffic comes from

if your ctr is super low you also get crappy ads.

I get a lot of SU traffic but I get a very low conversion rate. Stumblers usually don't click on ads.

Are you sure about that? I mean, about the most official word we've gotten from google about smart pricing is that lower conversions will lead to lower payouts to help their advertisers. The only way you can get a low conversion is if you're getting a lot of clicks out of your site that end up doing nothing for the advertiser. If you don't have a lot of clicks, I don't see how that will lead to a lot of poor conversions.

Nobody really knows when one gets smart priced unless you go from 50 a day to 20 a day :p

Traffic from stumbleupon, digg and similar sites are completely worthless. I recommend that you disable your ads if you buy stumbles.

In my opinion the ONLY traffic that is worthwhile is organic search. Everything else sucks.

You will get smart priced if you get a lot of type in or stumble traffic. Trust me.. I've seen it many, many times.
