Page Transitions?

I was wondering if anyone could explain to me how you do the web pages that sort of fade into the next one when you click around the site? Can you control how fast it transitions into the next page are? Does it require flash? I don't really want different parts of a page transitioning at different times so there's a whole bunch of stuff going on. But i would like to know how to make the transition from one fullpage to the next to be a little smoother.

If the site is flash you could do this, but I believe you can also do it with javascript.

Why would you want to do it thought? I think the fade would get on my nerves.

Well i just want a smoother transition from page to page. I don't want a really slow fade. I'd want it to be a quick one, which is why i was curious about whether you can control the speed of it.

I wouldn't bother. They are gimicky and slow your site down a lot.
