Hi everybody.

I am an advertising nooB and I would very much appreciate it if you guys could give me some information I need :)

I have an idea for a web site and I am working on developing a business plan for it now. The whole idea - if it works :) - is about having high volume of traffic on the web site with as less visible advertising as possible. That's why I thought about AdSense (actually any other similar program would be good). I just want to put advertisement like AdSense on every page and that's it, no other banners, pop-ups etc. Unfortunately I found out that I don't have enough information to make an estimate about money I could generate in this way. I know that google pays depending on different factors but please tell me if it is possible to estimate how much would I make having a site that generates 100k impressions a day? Would it be $5, $50, $500 a day??? - I just need an estimation.

And also I have been thinking of going for CPM rather than CTR. Could you please tell me an estimation for this kind of advertisement - 100k impressions a day?

thank you very much in advance

zxc do a few searches and you can find information here.
(Try going to the adsense thread and searching cpc)

It totally depends on the topic your site is about, 100k impressions about brittany spears might be $5 100k impressions about mortgage loans might
be $5,000

If you want to say the topic that would give people a chance at guessing

If your site has low-paying keywords (movies, celebrities, etc.), you can probably make $30-40 with that kind of impression on Adsense. Banner CPMs will get you about another $30/40 if you chain up your networks.

Of course, if you're targeting high-paying keywords, all bets are off.

Eh, don't bother, he'll never tell. Like everyone who is trying to make money off Adsense, he thinks he's found the jackpot keyword. Of course he doesn't know I've already found that jackpot. ;)

Hits * Clickthrough Rate * Earning Per Click would make up your revenue.

If you have unintrusive ads/ads not the focus of your efforts, CTR will be low-ish, maybe 2-5%. Earnings per click would largely depend on the subject your site is about. If it's about water an dair, you'll get 0.01 a click.

That should give you a guide.

thank you very much for replying.

sure I can tell you the topic - it will be erotic content site, somehow similar to TPG style. I have an access to unique and interesting material and want to benefit from this. According to my estimation I should do at least $50 a day - would you say that this is possible having 100k impressions?

But to tell you the truth I don't really believe in CTR, and am more interested in CPM. Does google pay CPM for AdSense? If not, what other AdSense-style program does? And if none, what CPM-based advertisement would be least unintrusive?

If you're a n00b like you say you are, maybe you should worry about getting the 100k visitors instead.

Right. Well said. Too many noobs worry about the money before they figure out how to get traffic. Traffic comes first, money (might) follow.

No, my question was about general idea of this for of advertisement - I would probably use other program similar to AdSense. What I need at this moment is estimation of possible income.

If you're a n00b like you say you are, maybe you should worry about getting the 100k visitors instead.

I am aware of difficulties but what's the point of making a site with 100k impressions/day and finding out that I will earn $5 a day? All I need is to know - realistically looking - what kind of money I could receive having 100k impressions/day. Knowing that I can calculate if the time I would spend on getting there is worth it or not.

You guys still did not say anything about CPM option?

give you some ranges

google reports CTR,Imp.,clicks,income,

from that they come up with one called eCPM
eCPM = (income/imp./1000) so eCPM = income form 1000 page views

I would say logon to a adwords account and see what the keyowords for your sites would cost to get to the top. Then you have an ideal of what you could earn per click, but google is going to keep part of that so you have to guess a little.

To my estimation for some minimum paying keywords you may earn between $150-200 for 100K impressions a day !

I have a site with about the lowest CPM possible.. and the rate is anywhere between 1.10 and 1.70 so I would say you are looking at $120 daily

You're nuts. Not for low-paying keywords. He'll be lucky to break $50 if it's not a mid-to-high paying keyword.

jackburton2006, I'm curious what you meant by:

If your site has high impressions (100k and up a day) it's nearly impossible for one single CPM ad network to fill all your inventory. So put at least 3/4 (more if possible) in a "chain" -- i.e. your major network first, it will default to your second-tier network second, etc. So that whenever your first network runs out of ads for you, the second network in your "chain" will step in, and if that one runs out, your third, etc.

For instance, one of my sites does an average of 125k/day, and despite the fact that I already have 4 ad networks linked, I'm STILL getting defaults. This means I need to get at least one more, maybe two more, networks to join the chain.

For the record, my first network is TF, followed by FC, then Casale, etc. Despite being a giant network, neither TF or FC combined can fill the 250k impressions/day I give them. So putting a network chain together is VERY important so you don't lose money.
