The traffic from one of my sites is down 95% since Thursday. The PR never changed at all on the update and stayed at PR 5. This happened on Thursday evening.

Anyone else experiencing a Major drop in Google traffic? I am talking major traffic. please do not respond if you think that the "semester break for universities" can effect your traffic in this world of 6 billion people.

Google ranking is not in steady....I think going ups and downs of your ranking is based on the number of competitors and their targeted keywords. Remember your competitors also trying to do their best in order to have a good SERP also.

I saw a recent decrease about a week ago. Looking into it, a major site that links to me added a rel="nofollow" to my link. Google picked that up, and my rankings went poof! So they might have done a recent backlink update.

Did you get banned from Google?

Did you accidentally block your site with robots.txt?

I've had a similar problem with www.swollenpickles.com. Was averaging 200+ visits a day from organic google results. Then about 8 weeks ago it dropped literally overnight to single figures a day.
Someone told me it could have been cos I sold text links. Do you sell text links on the affected site?

Traffic has been steady, if not a slight increase.

This happened to me on the 26th... I didn't change anything on that day, and appear to have maintained PR2 on my site. Here's a comparison from GA.

Google
Nov 24, 2007 - Nov 27, 2007 497 95.95%
Nov 28, 2007 - Dec 1, 2007 129 87.16%
% Change -74.04% -74.04%

Ouch

Obviously the posters above did not read your question properly as you say your pagerank is unchanged!

Mine is only 1 but I get a few google searches and, if anything, this has gone up slightly in the last few days(however currently so few that you can't read much into that!).

I hope someone out there can throw light on this, sorry I couldn't be more helpful.

Google gives users a warning on the search results if a website had badware. The easiest way to find out if you are listed is searching for your website in google and see if a message appears: "This site may harm your computer". If so, you can sign up at google webmaster tools (http://www.google.com/webmasters/) and request a review and possible see 'infected' URL's.

Google traffic drops about 70% when users see that message. Experienced it myself when users on my forums were linking to 'bad' imagehosts. Solved it within a week.

I've marked the area when my site was listed as 'infected'.
