Hi, I'm new to this stuff....is the difference between design and template that template is for CMS system, but designs are not?

Also, for designs, if they don't use a CSM, would I have to manually use an FTP to upload files everytime I want to do an update? I've only had experience with CMS's.

And if someone says they have a design but it isn't coded, what does that mean?

Design includes all parts of designing, mostly used product is Photoshop and Flash. Templates is just a weblayout, coded or not. Coded is when you make a site available not just to look at it but to actually click all the buttons, banners, etc. If they are not coded they will only give you a Photoshop file that you could modify into coding later on. Coding languages for websites used is often HTML and PHP.
