Microsoft Corp. warned Asian governments on Thursday they could face patent lawsuits for using the Linux operating system instead of its Windows software.


Linux violates more than 228 patents, according to a recent report from a research group, Microsoft Chief Executive Steve Ballmer said at the company's Asian Government Leaders Forum in Singapore.


Software developer SCO Group Inc., which claims that Linux is based on its Unix software, is suing companies including International Business Machines Corp..


What do you think? This could be a major blow for Linux. Linux is still very far from being a rival for Windows, and then comes this.

They are so desperate because their flawed OS has security problems and is nothing but a patch of a patch that they are spreading lies about.

Linux is by far the superior Operating System and Microsoft knows this.

A little while back I read a 5 or 6 page letter sent by Microsoft Execs to the govn't in Peru regarding the same stuff.

Microsoft is just upset that there is a FREE os solution out there that performs wayyyyyy better than their garbage OS.

I would love to see Linux becoming the market leader for operating systems. I hadn't used it until I started uni about 4 1/2 years ago.

I have to admit that I do use Windows XP at home though :o

I use linux for all production servers and the internal network but I do love the ATI AIW Tv tuner software that is made for windows.

I have All In Wonder cards in all my windows boxes.

If there was something better than G.A.T.O.S. for the ATI TV tuner software on linux I'd port over all the windows machines today! hehehe
