Not a stupid question, however, a little diligent use of the search tool at the top of the page will bring up hudreds of relevant threads you can scan through for lots of great information, resources, outlets, etc.

Too bad the download is outdated- but fortunately the forum has plenty of great information available!

Use the link in my sig. I'm a PR professional, and I give away a good number of tips on press release writing, as well as two sample templates (one for manual / print distribution and one for online distribution sites) through BizAmmo.com.

Just a quick question I couldn't find an answer to, do you write Press Releases in 1sy, 2nd or 3rd person?

3rd person. "I"s and "you"s can make it come across as an advertisement. If you're writing it for your own company, just pretend it's being written by someone else and about you.

The 3rd person is the proper way to write a press release.

And make sure your press release is newsworthy or it will not get approved.

They can, but not always. PR.com is a better bet for that if Google news inclusion is a priority with free distribution.
