View Full Version : Check To See If Website Is Banned In Google - Shows PR0

Hi there,

I was thinking of buying a new domain. I randomly typed in the address in a domain checker and it says it is available. When I go to the URL it says Page Cannot Be Displayed but it shows the page rank as being 0 (no grey bar).
However when I do the usual searches in google (link:, info:, etc) these all bring back no results.

I've used the Internet Way Back Machine and this has around 5 links from about 2005 but when I click these links it can't display the pages (for some reason).

Does it sound like the domain is banned in Google?

Thanks for any help.

It is possible that the name was previously used for something, was then dropped, and you have the chance to pick it up ( even with a PR of 0 ). If you can't seem to find any history of a site for the domain, then I am not sure if that would mean it is banned by Google.

As for the wayback machine - I have seen many such incidents where you see the links for a domain, but when you click on them, you dont see anything.

Do you think that because it shows as PR 0, it is quite likely that it isn't banned by google? Don't google normally grey out the PR box when showing a site that is banned in google?
