Is There Really As Much As I Think?

Hey,

I am learning JavaScript and the basics seem a little tough already but I was browsing through some random scripts and when I look at how much code is in some of the most simple scripts it scares me.

I got one of those Lightbox scripts and it had hundreds of lines which was a shock.

Basically I was just wondering how many months or years does it take to learn JavaScript and is there really a hell of a lot to learn?

I thought JavaScript was popular because it was fairly easy or something I read.

i believe its popular because its pretty powerful.

there is quite a lot to learn, although tbh, i dont know it either :p

if you have a base language that you already know, it may be easier, otherwise i wouldn't pick javascript as the first language to learn

Basic Javascript = easy.
Cross-browser javascript = Pain

There's no answer to this question. It depends all alone on you. I've seen coders who've been coding for many years, and their code was just poor. But then I've seen people who've been coding a few months only and their codes where good and impressive.

It depends on how bad you want to learn it, how easy you pick up things, how much time you spend learning, etc, etc...

Basic Javascript shouldn't take long to learn if you have the right resources.


But yes, it is a lot to learn. Just as any other programming language. There's no escape...

learn basic first then u will have no problm in creating huge scrip as ur concept is clear
