Check out this directory http://beginnersworld.com/Directories/

Look at the top featured link there, it is alive directory with a PR of 0.

I thought that this might be a good dose of inspiration to everyone.

i know they do not have the mod installed for phpld to update the pr. So what i am trying to say is they were a PR0 at one time as well and look how far they made it.

The directory owner just probably overode the pr for that listing much in the same way as one can override that numbers of hits shown on the detail page.

Do you realize how much was spent promoting that site? Everyone was PR0 at one time, I'm sorry but I do not understand the meaning of your post???

I think everyone around here now and again needs a reminder that every website owner starts at ground 0 - PR0 and 0 backlinks. It takes time and effort to grow a site into a resource and I hope the OP's intent here was to inspire all of us here to keep at it.

I doubt the OP is simply dropping link bait, as I can't imagine there are too many of us that would be impressed by a directory that so obviously poorly maintained.

Not that I agree or disagree, but what is your reasoning behind this statement?

It's been a long time since Alive was a PR0. If they are still showing a PR of 0 it would appear they don't update or have their PR working properly.

Just one thing to say is 'If you close your eyes that doesn't mean that the world is over'.

Yes I still believe, We will have to wait & see how is Google going to deal with directories. What if 2 months down the line, they are indexed again like before. ?

Yes I still believe, We will have to wait & see how is Google going to deal with directories. And do you still believe that its a good business practice to list quality MFA sites just because the web master has taken the trouble to spend $$$ promoting their site? And do you still believe that its a good business practice to sell PR despite all the indications to the contrary?
What if 2 months down the line, they are indexed again like before. ? We all know that penalities expire. The question is whether we are going to learn from the mistakes that some still believe to be acceptable in an unregulated industry. More to the point is the question, what if 2 months down the line, the penalties are still in place?
