google was not yet updating its PR and some say that PR is dead. Just continue your link building while everyone is crazy about PR update.

I'll tell you the same thing that is said on this forum about 50 times a day:
Stop worrying about PR and worry about your SERPs! Who cares if you're a PR 1 or a PR 9 when you are #1 or #650 in the SERPs? PR is for those who care about image and not about results.
Just move on already!

The important word in your post is "bought". There is a strong groundswell of opinion in the webmaster community that paid links are being substantially degraded by Google. Don't be surprised if all the paid links don't bring the results you're hoping for.

first of all maybe the PR will not be updated any more while no body knows for sure, then if those links is not devalued as a paid links you have to wait till the update but you will enjoy a strong PR 8 website, so good luck and keep us updated.

Google are working on a new algo to take into account paid pr links. Once they fix this a pr update will happen with alot of pr changes to most/if not all sites pageranks.
- Well thats what i've heard anyways.

Yup, PR is supposed to occur "naturally" from people linking to your site because they Want to, of course thats the was intention of Pagerank.
Paid links destorys this, and google is getting pissed off at this.
a PR7 could take 4 years naturally to occur. So you try to get a PR8 within a few months with paid links, your blowing yourself out of the water here, and google will detect it and devaule your Page's or something.

I got two legitimate PR7 links within the first week of releasing my new website. All you need is quality content.

PR=Nada.
Concentrate on providing your users a good site, good info, and get yourself some quality SERP's and you'll be in a better position than having a PR8 with a lame website.

Google knows what is going on with paid PR links. Google will kill PR or make it irrelevant.

If this is a new site then I believe Google is smart enough to understand that these are paid links [as you mentioned] and these days Google is trying to curb paid links [I dont think they will be able to curb it completely]. Lets see what PR you get, you gotta wait for PR update!!

This is way out of date ... you can no longer rely on x number of pr8s to give you a pr7 etc. These ratios were determined based on empirical research way back, since then G has undergone algo changes that make such ratios less relevant. More importantly over the last year or so G has been re-evaluating to prevent paid links distorting SERPs. I am not saying that you have purchased links, but the sites linking to you may have, or even the sites linking to them ... somewhere down the line paid links will take a hit and the food chain will affect almost everyone to some degree.
As others have said on here, focus on SERPS and less so on PR. ... that's how you will get more traffic.
