I am looking at setting up an Amazon affiliate store on a nice Xbox 360 game domain I own.
Just a couple of questions for those of you in the know about this sort of thing:
1. Would it be worth it in the first place (I can direct maybe a couple of hundred targetted visitors per day).
2. I dont code, but have seen Associate-o-Matic, which looks pretty good. Can anyone recommend other simple, but good, scripts I might want to check out?
Cheers, Matt.

If you do a search for AWS scripts on google or this forum, I think you will find what you are looking for.
If you can send traffic to the site, then yeah, I think it would be worth it. If you want to use a free script to get indexed and rank, that may be more of a problem. The SE's have gotten smarter, and throw these sites out for dup content.
Some people have found ways to make unique scripts, and it works well, but not knowing how to code doesn't help you. :D

Just curious on how you got the number of a couple of a hundred directed visitors on a domain I assume is not in use yet?

Learn to code and use some of these scripts: http://www.mrrat.com/aws/index.html, http://www.freekrai.net/, http://www.mrcgiguy.com/amazondetails.shtml and customize your amazon webshop.. Get the website well indexed and receive a couple of 100+ free visitors from the search engines every day!

How much does it generally cost to pay someone to customize one of those scripts?

Have you thought about using MotionMall? It's just one line of code to copy and paste onto your site... You can set the category (in your case, it would be Video Games) and the color, and it's a cool looking shopping interface all in one ad.

I just took a look at ebiz-u.com and Associate-o-Matic (never new they existed). They look pretty good, lots of feautures, includes shopping cart etc..
The major problem with them is that ebiz-u.com stores are hosted by themselves and Associate-o-Matic are encoded. I just hate not having full control of the source. I mean what happens if they go out of business or decide to stop supporting the product. Your out of luck that's what.

Associate-o-Matic is nice but lite version is only worthwile if you can send a bunch of visitors to your site.Version with mod rewrite is 99 $.
Any other script out there which is free and works with mod rewrite or even better script that can create static pages with amazon products selected by keyword/category.
I tried this
http://seo-toys.com/freebie-seo-package/freebie-package.shtml
but output is ugly.

I currently own www.ThreePlayer.com. Just put up a few days ago running AWS and using the mod_rewrite feature. I love it and seems to be doing well for only being up a few days!

The only way to make a true store is to make it yourself. Those 'out-of-the-box' packages don't work well. They will promise you the world, and give you nothing.
Use the AWS script from Mr. Rat for the best results. My site (anticost.com) took a good 2 months to develop, and 6 months before it reached profitability. Read the Amazon discussion boards and you'll read about everyone who was scammed by ebiz u.

Associate-o-matic is a good script. I run it.
I wouldn't recommend that you pay a coder to customize your script. I, however, did pay a coder $300 to customize one of my stores ... and when I saw the coding that she/he did, I hit myself on the forehead because it was so easy. You need to experiment with the <td> and the <table> html tags. Also, there are some programs out that that will generate nice looking menus for you. In particular, you can examine DHTML studio.
Also, bid keywords on Adwords, Yahoo, and MSN that reflect the products that you desire to feature. Don't pay for a ebook. Example, if you're going to sell "XBox Games" don't bid on the keyword "XBOX Games" ... too much competition. Bid on the particular title of the particular game.

Why not set up a simple site with links to astore sites you make at amazon. Kinda like a door way page but use nice template and have links lead to each astore you make. Might take you a few minutes if your fast making template changes.

Even if you have a custom-coded site and know code and have a great template doesn't mean you'll have a single visitor nor click-throughs. Esp. after Google penalizes sites for displaying Amazon content.
It's really about getting qualified visitors no matter the site.
