if you get lot of impressions and target general market, CPM is still the way to go.

What do you consider "a lot of impressions"? Just curious.

What would be an average payout for CPM? $0.50 per thousand impressions? What would you consider the best company for CPM and do you use CPM?

Just asking because all I have used so far is adsense, but if I can add more earnings, I might. :)

Personally I would consider 5,000+ impressions a day quite reasonable.

Anyone have a good company in mind for CPM for the real estate industry. I would be interested to see if we have anyone knowledgable about the real estate industry and other marketing portals.

What's a good payment for a 1000 impressions?

Depends on the ad format, the relatedness of the ad to your site, the type of visitors you have, etc. For targetted 468x60 ads, you can get upwards of $10CPM, and as low as $.20 CPM. ;)

The average payout for CPM ranges from $.20 - $.35. I am using Fastclick as my CPM Advertiser.

I've been pretty happy with TribalFusion.com. They have some pretty good content controls, so you can block the type of ads you don't want showing (ie - adult, flashing ads, religious, political, etc). I've seen CPM rates anywhere from $2.00 to $0.75. It is a decent compliment to Adsense, since you can run both on the same page. Tribal does require that you show only one ad per page and that it is "above the fold".

Hope this helps.

One time when I first started on web development I bought a 468x60 banner with 5,000 impressions and got 3 clicks. lol, Be sure you know how to make good banners and select what kind of websites for them to be viewed on.

well, I like PPC things better, heres why:

Say I have 1000 visitors a day, with a 2% CTR. Thats about 20 clicks a day. At about 25 cents a click (Which is what I am getting a tribalfusion), thats $5 CPM :)

It just seems to me, that unless you have a really low CTR, PPC ads will be a lot more profitable.

I thought CPM was based on 'page views' , not visitors :-? so, in the above example, that would equate to about $1 CPM ... (if you get about 5 pageviews per visitor)

Well, I mean impressions in the above post..

And yes, it is counted by impressions, just like my ppc ad network is ;)
