I'm not a fan of Text Link Ads. They charge 50% commission while we (site owners) do all the work.
So I started looking for an alternative to automate the link selling process but wasn't able to find anything.
I don't want to create a TLA competitor, too much of a hassle to deal with.. but, I am interested in building a community where link selling is simple, automated, doesn't reject sites based on Alexa (or anything else for that matter), and doesn't steal half their earnings.

What I came up with is a directory-style network where site owners can list the sites they want to sell links on, and when a purchase is made using a credit card or PayPal, the links will automatically appear on the website.
Site owners would be free to set their own prices, and any financial disputes would be handled between the site owner and the buyer.

So, is this practical? Would you use this? What other features would you add? Or what would you change?

sounds like a nice idea. How much of a cut would you take from the transactions?

Haven't decided yet, but no more than 10% (probably less)

Good point, but it wouldn't be difficult to fix.
If someone is about to make a purchase, my script will check if the code is still active. If it's not, then we'll notify the buyer and remove the site from the directory.

I would also integrate a rating system so buyers could rate the links after making a purchase.
