View Full Version : Google Web APIs license key - correct and does not work

Since a few days we got the Google Web APIs license key and have put it correctly and fully into the Keyword Position Tracker of www.digitalpoint.com (http://forums.digitalpoint.com/www.digitalpoint.com). This would surely be a very good tool indeed; but it sends back: “Exception from service object: Invalid authorization key".

I copied the key from Google's e-mail plus the one we ahve put into the Tracker and made a good comparison also with the Editor.

Google does not allow a second key what is reasonable - it sends back the same. Stuck in the mud ? Is there any way out?

What's the full error you are getting?

Thanks, Shawn
The WYSIWYG swallowed it - now it's here.

The WYSIWYG did not like me chosing Arial ...

Exception from service object: Invalid authorization key: ...
Key is 32 digits, starting with 2a3SVXIQFHIY1vV8 ...

The error you are seeing is relayed from Google... you should double-check it's entered right. Assuming it is, you might want to request a new one from Google. I have never heard of an issued key not working before, so that might be the best bet. If that doesn't work you might need to shoot an email to Google's API support...

and another key can be gained so long as it is not with the same person.

That is one key per person for whatever they want to do with it within the terms of google

Yes, I deserved it: With the copying I must have taken also a space at the end - and by that I never could see differences until I used a second chance. Sorry for bothering.

When you look up allinurl:www.radiomuseum.org for Google you will see that the situation could be worse :-))
But if you do the same on Yahoo you will see that we could not do worse. I will have to find the reasons ...
Cordially,
Ernest

No worries... I'm added some code (using the TRIM() function) that will trim leading and trailing spaces from the API keys if someone enters it as such to prevent it in the future.
