Hi,
I am after a new logo for a site called "Fine Coding" - a site like www.design2markup.com (http://www.design2markup.com) where we get designs and code them.
Color scheme on the site is blue and green, so any colours which work well with them are cool to use.
Payment is $25 for the winning design via paypal
Let's see what you can come up with! :D

Nice.
It looks a bit cartoony - more professional and it's pretty much perfect.
Perhaps try a similar font, but one thats more "boring" and "professional" :)
Here is the site design:

Obviously the gradients are smooth, image isn't the best quality

By the way, I am not going to render another version since I have to get ready to goto work. But, I can match the colors of the site design. Just while I was making it, I don't think the image loaded or something so I didn't know the exact color scheme!

Some feedback!
Onix - More professional colors - pale yet strong.
Chris - No colours are pretty good, concept is same as others
Danie - Same with onix - more professional colors
Ektz - No idea what that is, but its good. Its a unique concept which is nice. Something unique that is more related to coding would be good (or atleast looks cool)
Kittie - Looks good, after a logo though not a header! Would make coder a solid colour rather than its present colours. Font is good one, old school business but still looks modern when used right
Mitcharr - I can't see any difference in the font sorry
Everyone:
- Unique concepts! Doesn't have to be directly related to coding, aslong as it looks good (although if it was related it'd be good... if you have no ideas you can play with FC (for Fine Coding)
Feel free guys to make a logo that contrasts with the site design. If its blue and green aswell the entire site will be blue and green and nothing will really stand out.
Contest is going well so far! :)

Chris - along the right track but not what I'm looking for. Something bigger, more bold (mainly font wise, fine is hard to read)
Bangalore - not the style I am after sorry, thanks for taking the time to make a logo up

Here is an entry that I thought of after looking back on a technology website I made in highschool for a project, the concept was different, but one aspect made me think of this idea. I played with FC for a little bit but it looks better not spelling anything out.

Changed the font color a little bit to help bring it out a little bit more and the blue/green combination looks great IMO.
Added the email in a little bit of fun way, not sure how you feel about it or not.

Onixz, nice job totally stealing the first guys idea ;)
:( What do you mean I stole his idea? You mean the fact that it was a "</WORD>" logo?
I've been on these forums for a long time, and I have previous logos with the same concept idea of </word here> :P. I've entered like 2 other contests that had to do with coding with the same principle idea :)
So I don't think I am copying anyone.

You guys, he just used the same concept, and after all he has been here for a long 3 months therefore he couldn't have intended to steal the concept. Anyways, you really don't own the idea of using a slash in a design. Lets get back on track with this contest, okay?
P.S. I am not meaning to steal the concept of using a question mark at the end of my question.
rochow
Aug 21st 2007, 7:02 pm
The concept isn't stolen, many coding places use it.
Speno: Text is good, don't like the arrow effect. Perhaps something which is raised and different colour from the text
Crowquill - Concept is good, perhaps a font like Garamond, and a touch brighter green
Ektz - Nice concept, if you change the colours and the text effect... if you look at all coolwanz logos he pretty much uses the type of colours I talk about (professional)
Coolwanz - Like it, not a fan of the red though
Hecky - if you used a font like Garamond, removed the gloss and the bubble blower thing, and then had the 101010 it'd look good

THe bubble blower is meant to be a sewing needle :)

Coolwanz - Nice, I can't think of any improvements
Technoguy - Not the look I am after sorry
Crowquill - Can you try using more similarity? The text has a gradient, the FC is embossed and uses a different colour green. I like the <Fc> shape
Hecky - I didn't realise I was sewing :) So the blue line was meant to be the thread through the needle?
Kittie - Not what I am after sorry.
Keili - Not what I am after either sorry.
Thanks to all those who entered - Sorry there can only be 1 winner! I will choose a winner in the next day or two, I am still undecided at this point in time.

Okay, this was a hard decision! The winner is coolwanz. Thanks to everyone that entered, I pondered this over a couple of days because I couldn't decide which one I liked most! (in the end I chose because of the style, because I liked a couple of them the same and couldn't pick one!)
