I always read about snooping around on your competitions backlinks here, that is of course a great way to get links.
One way I like to use, is to go through threads here, look at other members signature links.
do a Google link:http://www.othermemberssiglink.com/ and see what pops up, the top one page is usually the best pages and if some of them looks like blog comment links they are worth checking out :)
I got a PR6 link using this technique today :)
The fact that the member in question already got the link listed by G shows you its a good link.

You are better off using a yahoo just because Google updates its backlinks every blue moon. Use a tool like this one: http://www.linkvendor.com/seo-tools/domain-popularity.html

I do this a lot for competing sites, helps me understand where they get a lot of their links, as well as helps me get some links for my site.

Good tip. It's totally a totally fair compitition plan, but a little mean.
I did know about this but my motivation is low. today, I think I'll spend a day doing this to all for my sites.
Thanks for the tip.

hmm .. i suppose it's a tip .. checking other people's backlinks is an important part of SEO if you are to compete - use their knowledge to catch up.
Thought that was standard stuff to be honest. Thanks anyway, it's good to have a reminder

Some kind of reverse engineering? But why to use google's link: command, if we all know, they doesn't reveal all links. Use Backlinkswatch or iwebtool tools and you will get even more.
