Wow - that must suck to have a domain/site that attracts the attention and respect of big $$ ...

Fox bought myspace for about $548 billion ... what price would you entertain for DP Shawn? :)

Duh ... wow, what a difference a letter makes.

Very interesting. Internet real estate is really booming. I wonder what they paid for it.

Will everything be owned by Y!, G, MSN or some other major company in the future? Small webmasters will now be creating sites in the hopes of being bought one day. Instead of posts about how to make money with adsense or whatever they are selling, they will post about how to make their site more attractive, so they too can be bought by...fill in the blank.

I just seems that as soon as a newer website or service becomes popular, it's sold. With the SE's in such tight competition for visitors. I can really see them purchasing up as many sites/services as possible, just to promote themselves.

there are already sites posting information on how to get acquired

this is old news my friend

and there are plenty of programmers who are trying to build the next flickr or myspace in the hopes of being acquired!

I started using del.icio.us a few weeks back. I thought it was interesting, maybe a way for me to keep book marks and have my bookmarks available to others and maybe get some extra links. I guess I missed something because it didn't seem like much more than a hobbie site, which it was, and it needed some polish.

Anyways, I wouldn't pay that much for it, I'd post a request on a freelancer site saying "I need a site like del.icio.us and I have $580 and will spend it all if I have to." :) I wish Yahoo and Google would consult me before tossing money around.
