That seems to be for an advertiser, not for a publisher though. Do you have a link for the publisher to sign up?

That's what the orginal poster (Mike) was asking about. There is no publisher division of the Adcenter program at this time.

I see that an adcenter rep has been busy on forums (including DP). So far I have been reading requests for suggestions, not really much more. Has anyone been given some concrete answers from him so far on anything that is coming up and going to improve what GA and YPN have been doing?

Of course there is the potential to be better or it could win because it is Microsoft and they tend to win a lot of the big battles. They may chose to win by keeping pricing reasonable and go easy on minimum bids. They could also win by forgoing a cut for themselves (example if I bid 0.05 as an advertiser, the 0.05 goes to the publisher providing a click to me). MS has given away the browser, why not give away clicks to win the click war? I am sure Google will put up a fight which should be good for advertisers and publishers alike.

IE has always been free. I think you are talking about the new project to give away a version of Windows XP that is ad supported.

I also tried this link months ago and then found out that it was for advertisers willing to advertise their sites on MSN network.

This link is not for publishers to get ads by MSN.

one that that will be cool is that it will say

ads by msn
ads by yahoo
ads by google

ads by msn will be the shortest and least noticeable??? lol dont know if that will play a factor but it will be strange to see ads by msn there.

Maybe they will put in a twist and it will say ads by microsoft or what if they have nothing saying ads by at all so evertyone will try them for there higher ctr.

In the end we can all wonder what msn has up there slevees

Got the adCenter invite a couple of months ago. Have been testing it... there's some nice features that AdWords doesn't have but the interface still takes some getting used to. Nothing beats the instant keyword approval of AdWords though.

I've been using it a couple weeks now, CTR really beating the hell out of Adwords but waaaaaay less impressions. I gave it a budget of $10/day and so far it hasn't spent $10 in January!

I got an Adcenter Invite.

Why are they charging Publishers $5 to sign up for a program for people who sell ads when we want to host them?

Maybe they want to make sure that you'll actually do something with the account rather than just sign up and not use it. It's a way to get some sort of commitment - screen out tirekickers, so to speak.

Exactly. If someone has a problem paying $5 to sign up then they are not exactly AdCenter's target market.

The program now is like Adwords. $5 is not a problem. The point I was trying to make is if you want a MSN Adsense, then you may not want to pay $5 for a MSN Adwords which is a totally different thing.

MSN Adcenter from what I can tell is for Advertisers now, not Publishers so Publishers would be paying $5 for nothing.

I signed up for AdCenter and I can tell you this is not even Beta quailty. No reports and their customer service does not have a clue how to help. All they say is you need to raise your bid price (they must be on commision). When I told her that why would I increase my bid price when I do not even have a report that tells me where I rank she had no answer and to be honest did not even know how the system worked. I have put this on hold until MSN actually give us a reason to work with them.

Customer service hasn't been up to most people's expectations yet (myself included), but there are plenty of reports that show you your average position.

Wow, first time I've heard of that being required. Did you just sign up? I set our account up and only paid the $5 fee. Total daily budgets are in the xx,xxx range...although due to the limited ad distribution actual activity comes no where even close to meeting those budgets.

You don't need one. It's open to everyone.
