Question about directories & duplicate content

If I submit my site to directories with the same title and description, will I be penalized for duplicate content?

You want to vary your title and description as much as you can. Also any quality web directory will rewrite your description anyway.

No, duplicate content penalty is when two webpages are exactly the same.

Not two directory listings.

But as redgsr said, it's good to vary your directory descriptions.
